Who We Are

The culmination of  who we are came during the April Call Meeting of 2019. At this meeting, the General Assembly, upon the recommendation of the Presiding Bishop and the General Board, officially ratified the creation of Impact Kenya Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ with Dr. Solomon Iyobosa Omo-Osagie II as the Bishop-Designee. Then on 10 November 2019, Bishop-Designee Omo-Osagie was officially consecrated as the Pioneer Prelate over Impact Kenya Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction overseeing more than 50 churches located across western, central, and coastal (Mombasa) Kenya.

Our History

At the leading of the Lord, the work of expanding the Kingdom of God took the Bishop Solomon Iyobosa Omo-Osagie II, PhD to Kenya, East Africa in 2013. At the conclusion of his assignment as the Jurisdictional Secretary of Greater Maryland First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Bishop Omo-Osagie began focused ministry work by planting community of believers and study groups in western Kenya. In his focused cities, towns, and villages, there were no Church of God in Christ (COGIC) churches. He planted the first Impact Pentecostal Fellowship church with Pastor Alex Barasa Wanjala in a town called Kamukuywa. Working together, they raised local brothers and sisters in the work of the Lord. More groups were planted in surrounding towns and villages. To further enhance the new community of believers, COGIC educational and learning materials - Sunday school books, prayer and bible band, Bible study topics, Power for Living magazines, Sunshine band books, and other learning materials were sent. As people started attending and joining the fellowship, more local brothers and sisters were raised and supported with personal and financial resources from Bishop Omo-Osagie. This enabled the groups to launch even deeper into the surrounding towns and villages. They utilized various means of communication to strategize on ways to advance the gospel message into areas that had not received the Word. They continued to press further into the hinterland, down the valleys, and up to the mountains to reach souls. These evangelistic teams were well received by the villagers in the areas where the feet of Impact missionaries treaded.

By 2015, the teams had planted numerous churches. Along the way, several unaffiliated pastors and churches became affiliated with Impact and began working to further the gospel. The unaffiliated groups were drawn by COGIC’s strong and powerful Pentecostal Holiness message. Prior to Bishop Omo-Osagie, there were no COGIC churches in places such as Kamukuywa, Makhonge, Misikhu, Koy Koy, Kamasielo, Rafiki, Kolongolo, Chwele, Sikhendu, Sawa, Kamusinga, and Cheptais, and several other parts of western Kenya. Working collaboratively with Bishop Francis M. Kamau from Nairobi, they arranged for trainers who came to Kamukuywa and conducted several days of training and workshops with Impact pastors. Bishop Kamau also invited Impact pastors to Nairobi for further training on mission and other empowering opportunities. In 2017, Bishop Omo-Osagie travelled to Kenya to launch several initiatives that had been instituted with local pastors. These initiatives included dedicating the churches that had been planted, establishing small businesses for several widows, planting seeds of faith in their business endeavors, and sowing financial seeds into the lives of the pastors, their families, and the churches. Bishop Omo-Osagie and his team of workers and evangelists were warmly received as they travelled for many hours from Kisumu through Kakamega to Webuye to Kamukuywa visiting with newly planted and affiliated Impact Churches. By the end of 2017, there were over 35 churches under the covering and umbrella of Impact Pentecostal Fellowship - Kenya.

Then in the middle of 2018, Bishop Omo-Osagie embarked on an ambitious mission to address the serious issue of drought. This western part of Kenya was experiencing major drought that forced local villagers to travel for miles in search of water. Bishop Omo-Osagie rallied resources and targeted those areas that were most affected by drought. Working together with the pastors, they were able to build lifesaving Water Wells in and around Impact Churches in Kamukuywa, Cheptais, Naitiri, Makhonge, Sawa, and Kamasielo at the cost of several thousands of dollars. The great news is that these Water Wells were not only a blessing to the churches, but they are also a blessing to the surrounding communities as people come to the Impact Churches to draw water from the Wells. The Lord granted favor as many families testified to the blessings they had received from the various projects undertaken by the Impact Pentecostal Fellowship.

As a way to further empower the pastors and their families, Bishop Omo-Osagie personally sponsored 15 pastors and their wives and other church members numbering more than 30 total to attend the 20th anniversary celebration of Bishop Kamau and the Cornerstone Faith Assembly Church. For many of the Impact Church pastors and their wives, it was the first time they had ever travelled outside of western Kenya and their first time of being in Nairobi. It was an unspeakable joy to witness the blessings of God fully manifested in the pastors and their families. At this celebration, representatives from the Presiding Bishop’s West Angeles Church of God in Christ as well as the COGIC World Missions President - Bishop Vincent Matthews, were in attendance.
